I received great news this morning when I woke up – my first shipment has been processed into Amazon FBA and is available for sale. Now the fun starts!
The process took a week. I mailed the box on the evening of January 12th and the inventory was processed the evening of January 19th. I had to ship the box from California to Tennessee, otherwise it could’ve been faster. Overall, the process was simple. I followed the labeling instructions provided for Amazon FBA and even made a mistake. I forgot to put an expiration date on the master carton – aka the box I shipped the product in. It’s a rule that you have to do that for grocery products. But I did have expiration dates on each individual unit, so it must have not been a big issue.
Now I need to sell the product.
My pricing came in $1.50 lower than a competitor. I won the buy box, but the competitor matched the price so now we’re sharing. I’m eager to lower my price and win the buy box, but know that I need to be patient. I don’t want to eat into my profit margin just so I can make a sale a day or two early. Rather, I need to monitor sales and adjust accordingly. I shipped more of this inventory last night and that should be processed early next week.
