A weakness of mine so far in the $25K Challenge has been the quality of my product pages.
You can view a comparison of my before and after on a soap mold product page by clicking here and comparing the 1-pack vs. the 2-pack. The 2-pack is the improved product page and the 1-pack is the original.
My original product page had 49 words in the description. It contained the word soap 4 times, but had no instances of the word mold. That’s pathetic when you’re selling a soap mold. I was shooting myself in the foot by not optimizing for the most important keyword.
To understand how to best fix the issue I researched the SKUs that ranked high for the keywords I thought were important for consumers to find my product when searching. This was extremely helpful and it wasn’t difficult to mimic another product that is doing it well.
My second attempt had 167 words in the product description. The word soap was only inserted 3 times, but the word mold had 8 instances. I also include words such as muffin, cupcakes, brownie, cornbread, cheesecake, pudding, and jello shot. These words broaden the possible searches the SKU can appear in.
Another important area of improvement was my bullet point section that appears at the top of the product page. In my original post I was using only two bullet points. I used all five possible bullet points in my revision. The added additional instances of the word mold and the word soap.
