In Q4 of 2017, Seller Labs established a philanthropic arm of the company: Seller Labs Cares. Given how Seller Labs has been welcomed and embraced by the Athens, Georgia community over the last five years, we felt that it was time to give thanks by giving back.
We chose Toys for Tots as our charitable partner because Brandon Checketts, Seller Labs’ founder, has been a passionate volunteer and supporter of T4T for a decade. Now, with a company of his own, Brandon wanted to extend his involvement to include Seller Labs as well as the Amazon merchants he works with every day.
In mid-2017, Brandon shared his community-service vision with the Seller Labs team: turn a $10,000 donation into $50,000 worth of toys for the Athens-area Toys for Tots foundation in time for holiday giving. It was an ambitious goal that required an equally ambitious campaign in order to ensure success. For Seller Labs Cares, Marketing Coordinator Caroline Powell took charge of the efforts and worked closely with our network of Amazon sellers. By the time the campaign was completed in mid-December, we, along with our amazing seller partners, were able to turn that initial $10,000 investment into over $125,000 in toys, more than doubling our initial goal.
Last week, Brandon and Seller Labs were recognized as the top singular donor for the Athens chapter of Toys for Tots. We could not be more proud nor could we be more inspired to beat our 2017 total this year. Not only were the toys donated by the Seller Labs campaign enough to meet the needs of more than 2400 local children, the surplus of donations helped additional chapters reach and surpass their holiday goals as well.
A passion for giving isn’t limited to just one member of the Seller Labs executive team. CEO Hank Harris has gotten involved with Lydia’s Place, a local organization that helps students who have experienced foster care and/or homelessness and who lack support systems. By providing housing, academic supplies, clothing, electronics, and more, Lydia’s Place helps young people in need find their footing and succeed academically and personally.
As a tech-oriented CEO, Hank has encouraged and facilitated Seller Labs’ involvement with Lydia’s Place through laptop donations as well as additional tech help to get students successfully set up for classes at local universities. So far, Seller Labs has been able to donate four current-model laptops to students in need.
We’re very excited to continue our efforts with Toys for Tots and Lydia’s Place through our Seller Labs Cares initiatives. If you’re interested in joining our efforts, please contact us.
