Credibility is important to have when doing business with Amazon, suppliers, and other agents. The cheapest way to get credibility is to buy a domain, build a website, and set up a personalized email and phone number.
DOMAIN AND WEBSITE
I do not recommend paying someone to design your website since you need limited functionality. Companies like SquareSpace.com make it easy for you to choose a template and modify it without knowing anything about web design. For $8 a month, you register, you pay for a domain and hosting fees, and your web site is designed. You can have a nice looking website up in an hour or two.
An even cheaper, but slightly harder, option is to register your own domain and buy hosting fromGoDaddy.com or FatCow.com. You can then build your own website using open source software such as WordPress or Drupal. Both WordPress and Drupal have pre-built templates that are easy to modify and require little knowledge of web design or coding.
Your first point of contact and much of your communication (especially with suppliers in China) will be through email. A generic email address from Gmail or Hotmail hurts your credibility. Instead, you can have an email address based on the domain you purchased for your company website.
For $5 per month Google lets you set up email with your own domain and still use the Gmail interface. Google walks you through how to set this up and even gives you a free 30 day trial.
Your new email address through Google also opens the opportunity to get a free phone number through the Google Voice application. The application lets you forward any calls to that number to a cell phone and/or landline. The Google Voice Android or iPhone app allows you to call people using that new phone number.
