There’s something about the holidays that tends to bring out the best in us. It is called “The Season of Giving” after all. We hit the stores or search endlessly on the Internet to find the perfect gifts for our loved ones because there’s nothing better than seeing their faces when they open our gifts.
Did you know that the Tuesday after Cyber Five is actually Giving Tuesday? That means that TODAY is Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday started in 2012 as a philanthropic add-on to the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping extravaganza.
Where does Seller Labs Cares come in? Our philanthropic division works year round to give back to our local Athens, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina, communities. We work with Lydia’s Place throughout the year, helping young adults who have moved on from foster care or homelessness and then need help preparing for upper-level education. Seller Labs Cares also works with Bytes for Bites, a food-drive competition amongst tech companies in Georgia.
We love it all, but our favorite initiative of the year is our toy drive for Toys for Tots. We started collecting toys back in 2017 and we donated more than $125,000 in toys in our first year alone. Since then, we have been honored to have countless clients donate to our local communities and get involved in their local chapters. It’s the season for sharing, and it really does bring out our best selves.
So how do we collect all of those toys? Well, with the cash donations we receive, we shop hard for each age group on Toys for Tots’ gift list. Going on “the toy run” is every Seller Labs employee’s favorite afternoon. In fact, we turn into kids ourselves given the glee of selecting gifts for kids who might otherwise go without. There just aren’t words to explain it. After my first shopping trip a couple of years ago, I understood what the phrase “my heart is full” truly meant.
Help us give back this year, won’t you?. The donation deadline for the 2019 toy distribution is December 13th. That gives us 10 more days to raise funds and gather as many toys as we can (and I assure you that we make every penny count). I hope you’ll join us in creating happy holidays for families in need.
